Young Adults Group

This group is open to individuals between the ages of 18 and 24 that are looking for support surrounding their mental health and wellness.

The group runs in four week modules for an hour and fifteen minutes each week. This group is facilitated by a Registered Social Worker and/or Registered Psychotherapist. Senior’s Group

This group is open to individuals over the age of 55 that are looking for support surrounding their mental health and wellness.

The group runs in four week modules for an hour and fifteen minutes each week. This group is facilitated by a Registered Psychotherapist and/or Registered Social Worker. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Group

This group is open to individuals ages 18 and up that are struggling with anxiety, depression or other related mental health and wellness concerns.

This group is facilitated by a Psychiatrist. There is no cost to individuals participating in this group however a physician’s referral is required. Contact our office at clinic@midlandtherapy.com or call (705) 481-1925 with any questions regarding the group or costs.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Training Group

This group is open to individuals ages 18 and up that are interested in developing effective skills for coping with life on life’s terms.

This group is divided into four modules: Core Mindfulness Skills, Distress Tolerance Skills, Interpersonal Effectiveness Skills and Emotion Regulation Skills. Each module is offered over four weeks for an hour and fifteen minutes each week at the NSTN location.

There will be a review of the Core Mindfulness Skills at the beginning of each module. There is no requirement to complete all four modules or to complete them in any particular order. This group is facilitated by a Registered Psychotherapist and/or Registered Psychotherapist. The cost of the group may be covered under extended health care benefits. Note: Standard DBT Skills Training Groups are ideally offered for approximately 2.5 hours per week for up to 24 weeks to cover the full skills curriculum, which is often repeated to create a 1-year program. To make our programming more accessible and affordable to individuals in our community we are offering a briefer schedule which offers a subset of skills that the full program would offer. 

Family Support Group

When one person in a family is struggling with mental health or substance use issues the whole family feels the impact. Families play a crucial role in supporting their loved ones, which is often at the expense of themselves. As a result, family members may experience varying levels anxiety, sadness, confusion, self-blame, fear, and anger. Together, during our Family Support Group we will explore definitions of mental health and stigma; normalize feelings of guilt, fear, and anger; discuss the importance of developing effective communication techniques and boundaries; and establish strategies for self-care. It is our hope that our Family Support Group will help you discover you are not alone on your journey.

Coping with Stress (Drop- In) Group

Everyone deals with stress but sometimes the stressors of everyday life can feel overwhelming. This 2-hour group offers a safe and comfortable place to come and learn some additional ways of coping with stress in healthy and effective ways. There is no obligation to participate in the discussion simply come and listen or if you choose you can ask for support or ask for feedback about concerns in your life.
